TruckOS
In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) is one of those things I get most excited about in the world of technology. As in how good the OS is compared to the options out there is a major driver for choosing a car. As technology progresses, more controls move to displays instead of hard-wired controls. Too often, those controls forget one central factor: the user is driving, so they can't search or fumble to find answers. In many ways, its more akin to industrial design than traditional app or website design.
Driver's don't have time to get confused or tap the wrong thing. To be forced to tap through 4 menus to disable the passenger's phone when it suddenly switches over when a call comes in. Just-in-time or generative solutions, provided based on car, driver or external conditions becomes more important. In a vehicle, every second feels like an hour when you can't find what you need to. And the cost of poor controls can be catastrophic.
