No. 06 Needs clear choreography.
Translation
Good motion answers three questions: What just happened? Where do I go? Where did it end up?
Without it, you tap… & then go hunting.
Try this
When something new appears, grow it out of what you tapped.
Where it comes from
Nobody coined it for screens. Designers borrowed choreography from dance: who moves, when & where.
Its roots are Disney’s 12 principles of animation, written up by Frank Thomas & Ollie Johnston in 1981.
In 2014, Google’s Material Design gave motion choreography its own chapter.
- Frank Thomas & Ollie Johnston, The Illusion of Life: Disney Animation (1981)
- Google, Material Design guidelines, “Motion: Choreography” (2014)
